Botanical Profile — Tabernanthe iboga
Tabernanthe iboga is a slow-growing perennial shrub of the family Apocynaceae, endemic to the equatorial rainforests of Central West Africa. The plant reaches 1–3 metres and the root bark contains the indole alkaloid complex — ibogaine, noribogaine, tabernanthine, ibogamine and approximately twelve minor alkaloids — that is the subject of multiple Phase II clinical trials across European and North American research centres examining efficacy in opioid use disorder, alcohol dependence and treatment-resistant depression.
Our Strong grade root bark has been used as reference material in academic phytochemistry studies. The root bark is finely milled to ensure uniform particle distribution and reliable compound extraction.
Cultural Heritage & Ethical Sourcing
For centuries, Tabernanthe iboga has been central to the Bwiti spiritual tradition of Gabon and Cameroon — used in initiation ceremonies, healing rituals and rites of passage. We work exclusively with communities where Iboga cultivation and harvest remain embedded in traditional stewardship practices, ensuring harvesters receive fair-trade compensation and cultural heritage is preserved alongside scientific utility.
Quality, Traceability & Compliance
Each batch undergoes macroscopic and organoleptic identity verification. Our Cameroon supply chain operates under independently audited replanting agreements — for every plant harvested, new seedlings are established in the same region, maintaining population density and long-term ecological balance. All exports carry CITES Appendix II permits with full chain-of-custody documentation.
